The goal of the project was to conduct training sessions and workshops which are aimed to increasing the capacity of local young scholars on conduct academic and policy relevant research related to SDG issues such as gender equality, income inequality, and sustainability. The trainings consisted of the following sessions: (1) preparing for research and identifying existing gaps in scientific literature; (2) use of research tools to identify publications in reputable international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus; (3) developing and formulating research gap; (4) framing research paper and structuring research for academic or policy related journals; (5) conducting empirical analysis to address research gap; (6) preparing and submitting papers to internationally indexed academic journals. The trainings helped female scholar to turn their research ideas into academic publications at journals indexed in reputable databases such as Scopus / Web of Science.
This initiative was part of UNDP’s project “Empowering Women to Participate in Public Administration and socio-economic life”. The project will contribute to the following tasks set out in the Uzbekistan Development Action Strategy for 2017-2021: (1) Increase of social and political activeness of women, strengthening of their role in public administration, (2) Ensuring the employment of women, graduates of professional colleges, broad involvement of them in entrepreneurship, further strengthening the foundations of the family.
